For those who aren’t versed in Ecuador politics, here’s the scoop. In 2008 the country, under the current present, Rafael Correa Delgado, signed a new constitution which grants rights to nature. Right after the constitution was signed, the government quickly went into practice trying to collect a living history from the people. For anyone who has heard of the Slow Food movement which was started in Italy, this is very similar to that. For a quick personal history, when I was looking for a place to do my master’s thesis, I first started with the Slow Food movement, so it is such a delight to have encountered the very thing I searched for, only in a different form.
